Burrata... cream filled mozzarella cheese with a smooth and buttery interior... many people ask us for ideas on how to eat it. There are so many ways we can think of, but we wanted to share one of the fattest and arguably most delicious ways to eat burrata. This one, though definitely not the healthiest way to eat burrata, is sure to impress your friends and family at any dinner party or get-together.
Deep-fried Burrata in Cherry Tomato Marinara
1 cup flour
1 cup breadcrumbs
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons olive oil
5 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon chili (optional)
1 cup cherry tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 tablespoons butter
Heat olive oil in sauce pan on medium heat. Crush garlic cloves and add to hot oil till golden.
Chop cherry tomatoes in half and add to pan along with chili and tomato paste.
Add butter, salt and pepper to taste.
In deep pan / fryer, add oil and allow to heat. Prepare 3 bowls: 1 with flour, 1 with breadcrumbs and the last with whisked egg and milk.
Place burrata in flour, lightly dusting off excess flour. Gently dunk floured burrata in egg/milk mixture till coated and then put in breadcrumb bowl, covering the burrata with breadcrumbs all over.
Slowly and carefully put the breaded burrata in the hot oil and allow to fry until golden brown.
Remove from oil and place on paper towels, then lightly season with salt and pepper.
Place the marinara in a bowl with the burrata on top. ENJOY!
